   This new design of RP70538 cartridge is different than the old design. At first, I was sceptical and was little nervous that this might not work with my faucet but I was glad that it did work as my shower’s faucet was severely leaking from past couple days and I needed this like yesterday. However, my plumber mentioned that he didn’t had to use the top Hue Greenish piece (I have uploaded the pictures of the old cartridge). Because of the urgency I had, having Prime shipping was great. Came within 2 days.

   Had problems with dirt in my well water that caused some problems with our plumbing. Found one of these valves locally. So I purchased this one for a back up.

   We were lucky and the only thing that broke during the Great Texas Freeze of 2021 was an outdoor shower by the pool. The shower head was dripping water when we emerged from our hibernation and after opening up the handle, we could see a crack down the center of the cartridge. All other seals were fine!

   I wish this was available locally, but it turns out that peerlessoutlet.com got it to me the next day! I ordered on Saturday afternoon and received it on Sunday even though they estimated it would arrive on Thursday!

   I dropped everything to get it in (we’re expecting rain) and the install couldn’t have been easier. This was from Peerless and shipped/sold via peerlessoutlet.com. It did come with the anti-scald ring on it and all I had to do was unscrew the handle mount from the old one and put it onto the new one.

   Inserted it, replaced all the hardware, turned on the water, and it was perfect! No drips, perfect control. I proceeded to caulk around the faceplate and I was ready for a drink =)

    I had an issue where occasionally the hot water would not work in my shower, and a slight drip would come from the diverter. After taking it apart numerous times, getting a partial fix, and then it happening again I decided the cartridge was bad. After a few different trips to hardware stores and purchasing defective cartridges I purchased this one. The cartridge I got was made 6 months ago, and has the pictured updated system. (a plus as the hardware store ones were still 2-3 years old) You can see the differences in my photos. The scald setting is a lot easier to adjust, although I had to set mine almost all the way to the hot limit on this specific cartridge (seen in photos). The one thing I didn’t need was the check valve as mine was still in good condition, unfortunately, it is pictured here with the cartridge. You will have to purchase the check valve separately if you feel you need to replace that as well. Super easy install, hope this review helps.

    I ordered one of these RP70538 cartridges. The cartridge is made of plastic has an upper and lower part that should be snapped together at the factory. On mine, one snap was not latched. I tried to make it latch by pushing the two sections together by hand, but they would it would not latch. I tried to install it in the valve body just to see if the compression of the seating ring would hold it together, but the defect prevented the cartridge from seating properly. I returned the cartridge to peerlessoutlet.com and got another. That one had exactly the same defect. So, both were worthless, and absorbed hours of my time trying to make them work. Although the valves have the RP70538 code on them, there is no evidence they are made by Peerless. These are made in China. peerlessoutlet.com apparently has a batch of bad valve cartridges from China. I strongly recommend not purchasing this product until peerlessoutlet.com removes the defective valves from their inventory..
